Introduction
You are
about to have one of the most exciting experiences of your life. You will
meet the craziest people, eat the most delicious meals and get to
walk around one of the most attractive places in the world.......and the
best of all is that you will be able to do it IN
SPANISH !!!!!!.........be prepared to experience
la
tierra de las flores, de la luz y del amor:
BIENVENIDO
A VALENCIA!!!!!!
The
Task
Your
goal will be to find out if Valencia would be a good place to start an
exchange program where students from your school would be able to learn
the language and have fun at the same time. Each of you will become a specialized
reporter in the areas of geography, culture, food and fun. You are required
to explore the web sites provided and to include graphics and photos in
a final brochure that will try to convince the rest of the class to start
the exchange program ...in VALENCIA. Since the websites provided are in
Spanish you will have the chance to test your own reading knowledge of
the language, you are allowed to use a dictionary if you need too, but
do not try to understand every word, just try to HAVE FUN IN SPANISH!!
. Here is an electronical dictionary that can help you while you research:
http://www.diccionario.com/
The
Process
You are
travelling with a group of students from class, so your class should be
divided in groups of four. Once you have found your group, follow the steps
and answer the questions found in your "text box":
1-
Each person in the group will have to decide what aspects of the trip wants
to experience according to his/her personality: geography and weather,
food, culture and fun. Decide which of the roles you will take for your
group: Who do you want to be?
Juan/Juana Delfin
Juan
is the "smart" guy (not that the rest are not smart..but you know
what I mean). He is really concerned about the technical aspects of the
trip. He needs to find out exactly where the place is located, what type
of city is, what the weather is like, where the crew could stay, etc.....in
VALENCIA.
Luis/Luisa
Comidillas
Luis
Comidillas loves to eat and cook, he is going to taste everything so he
can explain his friends back home what the ingredients are and how to make
the delicious meals he enjoyed.... in VALENCIA.
Francisco/Francisca Culturillas
Francisco
Culturillas is very interested in all the different cultural aspects that
he can encounter on his way. He wants to visit the most important museums
and learn all about interesting people and places .... in VALENCIA.
Alex
Alegrias
Alex
is the craziest of the group, he will try to find out "what is fun" about
the city: the events, festivals and places where the crew will have a good
time....in VALENCIA.
2. The
team is ready to fly

Each of
you will study the Internet sites provided in your own resource list trying
to find the answers to the questions of your personal "travel box". You
will find your own "travel box" if you click in the image of the character
you chose.
Before
that, you can all have a look at these sites to know where to start and
get some background information about VALENCIA:

3. Once
you have answered your questions and are satisfied with your own knowledge
of the city, you will meet your colleagues to discuss and talk about your
results. Your team will create a brochure that will contain: geographical
introduction, culture, food, fun and a final conclusion stating why you
consider VALENCIA a good place for your classmates to spend a period of
their college life. You should turn in you "text box" sheets before you
start your brochure.
