     Tiger High School's Language Arts Department is proud to offer classes in the core English subjects, Creative Writing, Journalism I and Journalism II. In addition electives such as Technical Writing I and Technical Writing II are available through distance learning.

  • ATTENTION:  All seniors and parents of seniors.
  • Earn 3 hours credit in High School 101 through your English IV Honors class.
  • Southeastern University and Tiger High offer High School 101 as a 3 hour credit replacement for English 101 at SLU.
  • Take English IV Honors and English 101 at the same time.
  • Prerequisites: A 3.0 average in English

                                    An 18 on the ACT in English

                                    Computer skills (portfolio is produced using Word.)

Mr. Blount's Creative Writing class recently entered short stories into the regional Young Author's competition. Read the winners in our Student Corner.

High School 101 students type their portfolios for SLU professors to grade. Last year all students passed the portfolio test and received three hours of college credit in English 101.

Journalism I and II students visited Gulf Shores for the annual Technology and Your Yearbook Conference. Students learned applications using the new Adobe Pagemaker program.  Each year journalism students create templates, use digital imagery, and lay out the yearbook using the Pagemaker program.
