Technology and Today's Understandings of the Earth

Technological Scavenger Hunt:

The Louisiana Coast is constantly changing and with all of the erosion and landform loss our friend Alfred Frog is worried that he will not be able to find his family as they have all been washed this way and that. Please help Alfred answer the qeustions below to help him better understand the changes to the land, water and state and how these changes will affect the area past, present and future.

For this scavenger hunt break up into groups of four to six students to answer the following questions about what type of technology was used to study the Louisiana Coast, landforms and Gulf of Mexico. When recording the information you find, please use these headings on your worksheet to keep your information organized.

Scavenger Hunt Report

At the end of the scavenger hunt you will write a reflection paper on how over time technology has changed, what positive or negative aspects of the changes have occured. For this reflection paper I want you to fully answer every question.  Organize your paper into sections, one dealing with each question specifically.  Break out the question in parts and answer each part of the question. Describe the success of the inventions and technologies researched, what problems you encountered, how the inventors or scientists overcame them and what you would do differently if you were the inventor or scientist and had to do it all over again illustrating your point with an example from your research.

This paper will be 250 words long.

Landform Blog - Student Questionnaire:

A questionnaire is used to evaluate the progress of the students and the curriculum web.

The students have access to the blog after each unit so that they are able to voice their likes/dislikes or understanding/confusion as they go through the webquest.

Click on the webpage at the right to access the Landform Blog. When you have finished answering the questions for this section, use your browser back arrow to return to the Technology webpage.
