ANES 521: Principles of Anesthesia Practice I |

|
After review of the current recommendations for fluid and blood replacement therapy, you should now be equipped with more tools for decision-making. Always consider the whole patient when making these decisions. Many times we become focused on only one part of the problem, i.e. blood loss. However, each intervention made should be based on the physical status of the patient, current volume status, preoperative blood count, and estimated blood loss. Fluid/blood management requires application of knowledge in all of these areas. |
