> Internships may be scheduled for an academic year only, beginning with the fall semester and ending with the spring semester.
> Application for the internship must be made no later than the final date for adding/changing sections for the fall semester. All applications must be approved by Patricia Exner, Assistant to the Director of Teacher Education Programs.
> Once an internship is approved, the intern must register for EDCI 4635, Internship in Curriculum and Instruction, for six semester credit hours in both fall and spring semesters.
> NOTE: Three or more years of successful teaching experience
in your grade level and area of certification may qualify you for a waiver
of student teaching/internship requirement. For this waiver, you
must submit the following to the Louisiana Department of Education.
1. Verification of satisfactory NTE scores,
2. Verification form your superintendent(s)/principal(s)
of these years of successful employment in your
grade level and area of certification, and
3. Verification from Karla Lemoine, Coordinator
of Student Services in the LSU College of Education, of successful completion
of all required course work.
NOTE: The LSU Internship Program is currently under faculty review. Programmatic changes may result. However, the overall structure and general guidelines are expected to remain the same.
