| Subjects: | This will be a group of regular and special education teachers working in the elementary schools of Livingston Parish. |

| Learning objectives: | 1) The teachers will understand the definition of assistive technology
is. 2) The teachers will better understand how they contribute in the process of determining what devices will be used. 3) The teachers will have a better understanding how the augmentative communication devices enhance a student's learning potential. 4) To answer some of the questions these teachers have about assistive technology. |
| Time: | Twenty-five minutes for the presentation and fifteen minutes for a question and answer session. |
| Resources/materials: | Desktop computer, LCD, sound system, slide
show created by presenter, Dynamyte and Dynavox computers, handout packets containing: lists of resource websites, flow chart of evaluation process, and a list of school based resource personnel. |
| Procedures: | The presenter will display the slide show on the LCD while explaining elements of information pertaining to each slide. The topic areas to be discussed are: a) definition of assistive technology, b) who benefits from this technology, c) who and how a decision on whether the technology will be provided made.
